It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the Sydney Alliance Founding Assembly on Thursday evening the 15th of September 2011 at Sydney Town Hall.
This is the evening when the Sydney Alliance will step into the public arena as a new voice for Sydney’s Civil Society and launch the Agenda for the Common Good.
Join us with over 2000 members from across our partner organisations to speak in one voice for civil society.
In attendance will be a range of leaders from politics, business and the media who influence and shape the lives of those who live in Sydney. As civil society will be engaging those in power to work with us on those issues that affect people across the city.
Since we started in 2007, we have been building the Sydney Alliance in breadth and depth.
The Alliance has trained thousands of citizens from our partner organisations and many thousands of one to one meetings have built trust among us as individuals and between us as organisations. Our partner organisations ran Listening Campaigns over six months and across the geographic spread of Sydney, connecting with over six thousand people from diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
The issues, hopes, dreams and aspirations of these people contributed to the Alliance’s multi-issue Agenda for the Common Good. The Agenda will focus on three issues; public transport, social inclusion and community care and health.
The Founding Assembly will give Civil Society a chance to set part of the political and economic agenda for Greater Sydney.
