Sydney Alliance Launches “Friends” Membership
On the evening of the 24th May 2011, the Sydney Alliance launched a new level of membership, the “Friends of the Sydney Alliance”. The launch was held at Customs House at Circular Quay and our guest speaker was the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore MP.
Over 100 invited guests, colleagues and friends of the Board and Leaders of the Sydney Alliance attended and included past and present members of state parliament. Individuals who, like the Sydney Alliance, share a desire to bring about the change that the people of Sydney are demanding to make our city more liveable for everyone.
Chair, Randa Kattan and Executive Director, Amanda Tattersall, spoke to guests about the journey the Sydney Alliance had been on since 2007 and its agenda moving forward. Ms Lien Ho, from Asian Women at Work and Mr Peter Short, from the Uniting Church, partner organisations of the Sydney Alliance, shared their personal stories of growth as a result of being involved with the Sydney Alliance.
Up until that evening, the Sydney Alliance consisted of civil organisations and groups and there was no opportunity for individuals to engage with the Alliance and become involved in its work. The Friends of the Sydney Alliance provides individuals, clubs, associations and other interested bodies, an opportunity to support and take part in some of the projects the Alliance will be undertaking.
The launch was a great success and we’re pleased to say that we have received a lot of positive feedback about the evening and the new Friends of the Sydney Alliance membership. A number of individuals became Friends on the evening and many more have made inquiries about membership.
We invite you to join these individuals and become our Friend!
