Sydney could wave goodbye to airport train fee

When Charles chooses to avoid the congested M5 and takes the train to work, he pays $32. This is because Charles works at Sydney Airport.

Every day thousands of workers choose to drive to the airport because it costs $16 for a one way train ticket to the airport from Central station.

If the fee were to be lowered then the train will be accessible to thousands more Sydneysiders. This means thousands of cars off the road.

Some of us only have to pay this ridiculous price occasionally, but for the 28'000 airport workers like Charles who have no choice, this fee is exorbitant.

In the next few weeks the NSW Transport Minister, Gladys Berejiklian, will respond to a parliamentary inquiry recommending that the extra ticket cost be lowered, and abolished for those who work at the airport.

Now is our chance to have our say while she decides on her response! Sign the petition to demonstrate to the Minister that this issue matters to families across Sydney.

Sydney Alliance is a coalition of 52 partner organisations working to advance the common good and achieve a fair, just and sustainable city. Charles and thousands like him participate in the Alliance through their organisations.
